Thanksgiving is around the corner! I don't know about you, but I feel centered in being
mindfully grateful this month. But as we gather with friends and family it can be easy to get caught up in preparing the feast, traveling, or even conversation. Below are some fun activities that can help bring the Thanks of Thanksgiving to the forefront.
- As you sit around your festive feast everyone can take turns saying what they are thankful for. The same answer cannot be repeated.
- Make name tags for each seat ... have the person sitting to the right write what they are thankful for in that person. You can choose to share the answers or simply keep for yourself. Either way, realizing that you bring joy to others always brings smiles to faces.
- Give everyone in the family a large piece of paper and ask them to decorate their own placemat, writing all of the reasons why they are grateful this Thanksgiving.
- For those little picky eaters, use turkey cookie cutters to make sandwich cut-outs, so you are guaranteed to have something of substance in their bellies before pie and ice cream!
- Make a Thankful Pumpkin. You can choose to spray paint your pumpkin or leave it
au natural. All you need is a black sharpie. Have your guests write on the pumpkin what they are thankful for. No need to stop at one large pumpkin. The little ones work great too. Then incorporate them in to your centerpiece.
- If crafting isn't your thing, simply make sure that you give a heartfelt Thank
You to whoever prepared your feast. If you’re doing the cooking - make sure to
thank yourself too (a heavy pour of wine comes to mind :).
Regardless of your traditions, old and new, we hope that each of you feel love and cheer
this Thanksgiving!
